A chemical engineer, suffering from severe sunburn while in Florida, searched for something that could help. Local residents pointed him toward a Seminole healer using a plant-based remedy.
That plant would later be identified as a rare variety of Aloe barbadensis Miller—eventually known as the Stockton strain.
Rodney M. Stockton dedicated his life to studying aloe plants from around the world.
His conclusion:
No variety matched the potential of this specific aloe for supporting skin and internal health.
By the early 1950s:
