California Proposition 65 Information

California Residents: Please Read Before Purchasing

California’s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, commonly known as Proposition 65, requires warnings before California consumers are exposed to certain chemicals identified by the State of California as causing cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

The Proposition 65 list includes hundreds of naturally occurring and synthetic chemicals. These substances may be found in soil, water, agricultural ingredients, botanical materials, foods, packaging, plastics, manufactured components, and many other everyday products.

Haley Nutrition provides the following Proposition 65 information to California consumers as a precaution and to support informed purchasing decisions.

WHY ARE THESE WARNINGS PROVIDED?

Proposition 65 warning thresholds may be significantly lower than exposure limits, reference levels, or regulatory standards used by federal agencies and authorities in other states.

A Proposition 65 warning does not necessarily mean that a product:

  • Is unsafe when used as directed
  • Violates federal safety requirements
  • Is defective or improperly manufactured
  • Presents an immediate health risk

The warning means that a business is providing notice concerning a possible exposure to one or more chemicals appearing on California’s Proposition 65 list.

NATURALLY OCCURRING AND VARIABLE TRACE CHEMICALS

Some Proposition 65-listed chemicals may occur naturally in soil, water, plants, minerals, and agricultural ingredients.

Trace amounts may vary based on factors including:

  • Growing region
  • Soil and water conditions
  • Harvest
  • Supplier
  • Ingredient source
  • Production lot
  • Manufacturing process
  • Packaging
  • Storage conditions

Because Haley Nutrition offers botanical, agricultural, nutritional, topical, and packaged consumer products, the particular chemicals potentially associated with a product may vary.

PRODUCT AND EXPOSURE DIFFERENCES

The presence and amount of a chemical, as well as the potential level of exposure, may depend on:

  • The product and its ingredients
  • The production lot
  • The amount consumed or used
  • The frequency of use
  • The route of exposure
  • Packaging and manufacturing materials
  • Naturally occurring environmental conditions
  • Individual use patterns
